Spelling

When I was watching a Yahoo movie news, I heard "third consecutive year", and I wanted to find this spelling out, but I couldn't find the spelling.
I checked first "concective", then "consective", but I couldn't find it, so I tried to find on the web dictionary which is http://dictionary.reference.com/, and finally I found the spelling as "consecutive".

Sometimes it's not difficult with me to guess from their sound, but sometimes very difficult to guess, and sometimes it's not so difficult but I can't find it.
