I knew James Spader as a role of a solicitor from the Practice, American law farm drama.    And Eric Stoltz, his face was something familiar to me, but I wasn't sure, so I checked IMDb and found he was in Chicago Hope as Dr. Robert Yeats.
The story itself was a little boring.    I won't watch this again.

The story is a little strange, but interesting.    A homely, introverted, socially inept, stammering young man who dutifully tends to a disabled, alcoholic, and abusive mother while window peeping at a beautiful neighbor.    But in the middle of this film, I found his mom is not his mom, actually it is his older brother.
I found it in the middle, but actually or maybe it was obvious for native speakers, because the mom's name is Sal, and I guess this name is not for ladies.
Anyway, the end of this film, a guy who called Francis looked into a small hole on the floor and finished there. This scene makes me a little unsatisfactory.

A girl whose name is Christina Ricci is the main character. I saw her first in Ally McBeal from American sitcom, then in "The Ice Storm" (1997). She has strong atmosphere, like something strong will or something small devilish. When I saw her she was 22 years old, and when she was in the film "The Ice Storm", she was 17 years old, also when she was in this film, she was 22 years old. I think she looks younger than other foreign people.   Also Ioan Gruffudd is starring in this film.
